Children’s Concert this Sunday!
We will be performing in a Children’s Concert this Sunday, October 17 at 3 p.m. as part of our Arts at The Park Concert Series. The event is free and open to the public; donations are gladly accepted and will benefit the Children’s Defense Fund.
As you can see from the poster above, we are featured performers on this fun, interactive program along with guest musicians Ralph Allen (violin) and Malena Dayen (mezzo-soprano). Enjoy music from around the world especially suited for children 3-12, including:
- a Jewish liturgical prayer
- African-American spirituals
- Roumanian folk dances
- Lullabies from Latin America and Germany
- Children’s songs and dances from “Father Fox’s Feast of Songs”
We offer this concert to coincide with The Park’s observance of the National Children’s Sabbath, a day for faith communities to celebrate children as sacred gifts of the Divine. This occasion provides the opportunity for houses of worship from many faith traditions to renew and live out their moral responsibility to care, protect and advocate for all children.
Join us and please share the word with families around the city who might enjoy this free event!
Success at the Lexington Avenue Street Festival
We had our first public performance of the year at the Lexington Avenue Street Festival, just a few blocks from the church. We enjoyed a pizza lunch after church, had an excellent full choir rehearsal and then walked over to the festival. We performed Sh’ma Yisrael, Wade in the Water and God is Here Today. (And we even reprised Sh’ma Yisrael due to popular demand.)
Thanks to our singers for offering such a focused performance in a challenging, noisy place! Thanks to Mrs. Liau for helping serve pizza and salad. And thanks to all of our parents for their continued support. The year is off to a fantastic start!
Our next public performance will be on Sunday, October 17 at 3 p.m. We will share music for children and music made by children at a free Arts at The Park concert.
